Wrapping up 2010

Another great year in the books. I saw 60 fewer films this year, but managed to get to the theater more often with help from free screenings (I even gave away or skipped 10 screenings).

Direct-to-DVD prequel about the origin of the masked racer Frankenstein. Cheesy and action packed just like Death Race.

#137 The Fountain (2006)

The Fountain is my least favorite Aronofsky film so far, but that doesn't mean it's terrible, considering the quality of his other work. A husband desperately wants to cure his wife and may or may not be traveling through time from a Spanish conquistador to a scientist, to an immortal being floating in a bubble in space. I appreciate the scope of it all, but something is missing. Just when I thought I was getting into it, there would be a WTF moment.

#136 The Green Hornet (2011)

Seth Rogen being funny and Jay Chou kicking ass. Great buddy-cop-super-hero-action-comedy flick. Surpassed all expectations I had after seeing a couple trailers. They really didn't prepare me for how awesome this was.

Ponyo is a magical goldfish that is saved by a kid and wants to become a human. Funny, cute anime by the amazing Hayao Miyazaki.
