A big step down from Taken and Travolta looks absolutely ridiculous, but the action is good and it surprised me at times. While it wasn't the strongest action film, it managed to be better than the trailers suggested.
I was told most of the horror gags involved stuff going in her mouth and it was 100% true. Some were ridiculous and borderline funny, but the movie stopped itself from becoming a comedy and was actually a pretty good horror film.
A Prophet is one of the best prison movies of all time. Malik has recently been sentenced to 6 years and is quickly thrust into the harsh realities of prison life when he is forced to kill a fellow inmate that is going to testify. This gets him under the protection of the Corsicans even though he is Arab. He straddles the line between both worlds and is always planning ahead for his future even though everyone in prison looks at him like an errand boy. Amazing film.
Matt Damon is an informant for the FBI reporting to them the price-fixing scheme his company is doing worldwide while at the same time laundering money from kickbacks to himself. Based on a true story. Good to see Damon getting back to comedies.
Jeff Bridges is an old country singer in the twilight of his career and a major alcoholic. Somehow, a much younger Maggie falls in love with this drunk and it ends up turning his life around. Bridges deserves to win Best Actor for his role.
Another great movie from Scorsese and DiCaprio. Teddy is a US Marshall investigating an escaped mental patient on Shutter Island. Strange events begin to happen as he tries to unravel the mysteries of the island and what is really happening there. A psychological thriller that deserves repeated viewings.
Cage's best performance in years. He's a crooked cop in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. He does coke constantly and shakes people down for drugs and keeps them for himself. He's supposed to be working on a murder case, but is just in it to find more sources for his drug addiction.
Heath's last film. Thankfully he filmed most of his scenes and his friends were able to jump in for the rest and still keep the movie together. Of course, this is a trippy film by Gilliam. Imaginative, indeed.
"I broke up with you so I could marry my friend that is dying out of pity and take care of his kid and neither of us has access to phones so here's a break-up letter. You mad? LOL"
