Sugar is a young baseball prospect from the Dominican Republic that gets called up to the minor leagues to play for a Kansas City farm team. It follows him from his impoverished home of DR to the US and his ups and downs with the whole process.
I thought this was going to be action packed like Taken, but it was much slower and heavier on the plot, which made for a nice surprise. The trailer didn't give away all the good parts like most films do, so there was plenty that I wasn't expecting. Makes me want to see the original BBC series now.
A guy gets beaten up by his favorite football player and doesn't want to get him in trouble or sue. He'd rather blame himself for getting him in trouble and wants him back on the field more than anything else. This guy has nothing else in his life except for the Giants.
A new take on the familiar post-apocalyptic genre. The religious undertones might be too much for some, but I thought it was original enough and balanced action and story well. There is a big twist at the end that makes you want to see it at least once more.
A very fascinating sci-fi movie that takes place entirely in a living room as a discussion among friends. John Oldman claims he is a 14,000 year old caveman that cannot die and proceeds to reveal this to his friends. He has an answer for every question and his facts seem to fit history. Is he playing with them or telling an impossible to believe truth?
A pretty blunt title, but there is no sex in this movie. It's about a broken girl that stays confined in her apartment and a guy is fascinated with her being so weird he tries to break her out of her shell. Tom Arnold cameos as the girl's abusive father.
A very dark comedy about a dad whose son dies accidentally attempting autoerotic asphyxiation. He makes it look like a suicide and covers it up with a well written note (he is an aspiring writer). Things take off from there.
A completely unnecessary American remake of a great Spanish horror movie. It's practically shot-for-shot with a slight change to the ending, but comes out lacking compared to the original. Learn to read and watch REC with subtitles instead.
Coming off The Blind Side, Extraordinary Measures doesn't measure up in the 'based off true events' category quite as well. Still, a decent movie that happened in the recent past.
The first time an elementary school in China let the kids vote for class monitor. Very interesting documentary which follows the three 8-year-old candidates trying to convince their classmates to vote for them and getting advice from their parents.
